Yossy no Cookie is one of those weird little Game Boy puzzlers that somehow sticks with you. You play as this egg-shaped chef (Yossy, I guess?) who has to bake cookies by matching ingredients on a grid—sounds simple, but the timing gets brutal fast. Mess up, and you’re staring at a pile of burnt flour while this chirpy 8-bit music mocks you.
It’s got that classic early ‘90s Japanese charm—bright colors, weird sound effects, and zero hand-holding. First time I played, I just kept slapping random stuff together until something vaguely edible appeared. Turns out there’s actually strategy to which ingredients combo well, but good luck figuring that out without trial and error (or reading Japanese).
Definitely more fun than it has any right to be, especially if you’re into quirky retro puzzle games. Just don’t expect a deep story—it’s all about chasing high scores while a tiny egg yells at you in pixelated joy.
