Xenophobe came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1988, published by Sunsoft. It was a time when arcade ports were common, and this one tried to bring a specific kind of cooperative sci-fi action to the home console. You do not see many games from that period built around cleaning out alien infestations room by room.

You control one of three space explorers, each with slightly different stats, moving through a multi-level spaceship or base. Your job is to clear every room of aliens while avoiding their attacks and eggs that hatch into more enemies. The game is played on a single screen that only changes when you exit through a door, and you use a variety of weapons like lasers, flamethrowers, and grenades. You also need to collect keycards to access certain areas and repair broken doors. The pacing is relentless; aliens spawn continuously, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as you venture deeper. Playing it feels like a tense, messy scramble for survival where you are always low on health and ammo.
