About Worms (europe)
Worms arrived on the Game Boy in 1995, developed by Team17. It was a distinctive title for the handheld, bringing a kind of turn-based chaos you didn't see often on that small screen. While other games focused on platforming or puzzles, this one was all about calculated destruction.
You command a team of worms, taking turns with an opponent to eliminate the other side. The main objective is to be the last team standing. Your turn involves moving a worm across the destructible terrain, then aiming and firing a weapon. Signature mechanics include using the Bazooka, which requires you to account for wind strength and direction, and lobbing a Grenade with a carefully timed fuse. You also get wilder tools like the Banana Bomb, which splits into several smaller explosions. The pacing is methodical, as you plot each shot, but the difficulty comes from the unpredictable landscape and your opponent's moves. It feels like a tense, portable chess match where every move can blow a hole in the board.
