World Champ - Super Boxing Great Fight Game

World Champ is one of those old-school NES boxing games that somehow makes pixelated jabs feel intense. You pick your fighter—some have speed, others hit like a truck—and then it's straight into the ring with that classic chiptune crowd noise in the background. The controls are simple (dodge, punch, block), but timing matters way more than you'd think at first. Miss a hook, and you'll eat a counter that sends your guy stumbling back with that wobbly NES animation.
It's got that arcade-y feel where matches are quick, but the AI actually puts up a fight—especially in later rounds when they start ducking your combos. And yeah, the sprites are tiny, but there's something weirdly satisfying about landing an uppercut just right and seeing the other boxer's health bar drain. Just don't expect deep career modes or anything; this is pure, gloves-on punch-out stuff.
If you're into retro sports games, this one holds up better than most from the era. The music alone will stick in your head for days.
