About Wizards & Warriors 2
Wizards & Warriors 2 came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1989, developed by Rare. It was part of that era when side scrolling action games with fantasy themes were common on the NES, and it built directly on the foundation of the first game in the series.
You control the knight Kuros, working to defeat the wizard Malkil by traveling through four elemental realms. Your main goal is to recover pieces of the Iron Sword by navigating two stages in each realm; the first requires finding a golden artifact, and the second involves locating a specific magic spell needed to damage the realm's boss. You explore screen by screen, using your sword and a bow for combat while collecting gems to buy items in shops and storing keys to unlock chests. The pacing is deliberate, with the difficulty coming from precise platforming and managing your limited resources. It feels like a methodical quest where every new item or spell opens up another part of the world.
