Wizardry Gaiden 3 on Game Boy is one of those old-school dungeon crawlers that doesn’t hold your hand—and that’s kind of the charm. You start by rolling up a party (good luck picking classes without overthinking it), then dive straight into grid-based dungeons where every step could mean a trap, a monster, or if you’re lucky, some decent loot.
The translation patch makes it way more playable, though don’t expect Shakespeare—just enough to follow the quests and item descriptions without guessing. Combat’s turn-based, so you’ve got time to plan, but some of those late-game enemy encounters? Brutal. Bring extra healing spells.
If you’ve played any of the classic Wizardry games, this feels right at home with the same mix of punishing difficulty and rewarding exploration. Just remember to save often—those Game Boy batteries won’t last forever.
