Wizardry Gaiden 3 is one of those deep, punishing dungeon crawlers that makes you question your life choices—in a good way. You start by rolling up a party of adventurers (good luck balancing fighters and mages without someone dying immediately), then dive into grid-based dungeons where every wrong turn could mean a wipe. The Game Boy's tiny screen somehow makes the tension worse—you're squinting at those little sprites while praying you don't run into a pack of werewolves.
It's got that classic Wizardry vibe: cryptic clues, brutal traps, and the constant fear of losing hours of progress. The Japan-only release means menus are a puzzle themselves unless you know the language or rely on fan guides. But if you're into old-school RPGs that don't hold your hand, this one's a weirdly satisfying time capsule. Just maybe keep a walkthrough open.
