Wipeout 64 is that classic N64 racer where you’re basically piloting a hovercraft on crack. The tracks twist and loop like something out of a neon-drenched cyberpunk dream, and if you blink, you’ll slam into a wall at 500 mph. The soundtrack? Pure late-'90s electronica—it somehow makes crashing feel cool.
What I love is how weightless the ships feel—you’re not just turning, you’re drifting sideways while barely scraping the track. Took me a few races to stop bouncing off every corner, but once you get the hang of it, nailing a perfect lap feels unreal. Oh, and the speed pads? Hit enough of them and your ship practically turns into a blur.
It’s one of those games where you’ll restart a race five times just to shave off half a second. Still holds up if you’re into that old-school, white-knuckle racing vibe.
