About Wild Snake
I picked up Wild Snake for the Game Boy back in 1994, a time when the handheld was full of puzzle games trying to stand out. It was published by Natsume, a company known for a mix of action and strategy titles. This one was their take on the block-dropping genre, landing right in the middle of that puzzle craze.
You control the falling snakes, which are essentially multi-segmented blocks that you rotate and drop into place. The main goal is to clear horizontal lines by filling them completely, but the twist is that each snake is several segments long and moves as a connected unit. You have to fit their winding shapes together, and a key mechanic lets you cut a snake into smaller pieces if you need to isolate a segment. The game starts calmly but the speed ramps up steadily, demanding quicker decisions as the playfield gets tighter. It feels like a constant, engaging battle against the rising stack.
