About Wild Gun Man
Wild Gun Man came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1984, a light gun game published by Nintendo itself. It was part of that early wave of NES titles designed to show off the Zapper peripheral, a simple concept built around quick reflexes and timing.
You control a crosshair on the screen, aiming the Zapper at cartoon outlaws who appear one after another. The main objective is to shoot each gunman the instant his eyes flash and the word "FIRE" appears; hesitate for even a moment and he shoots you instead. The game cycles through duels against single opponents and a shooting gallery where you must hit targets popping up in saloon windows. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as the enemies give you less time to react. It feels like a pure test of your speed and focus, a straightforward challenge that is either intensely satisfying or brutally short.
