Whomp Em came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991, published by Jaleco. It was one of many action platformers from that era, but it stood out for having a Native American protagonist, which was a rarity at the time.

You control a warrior navigating through screen by screen environments, using a spear to defeat enemies. The main goal is to conquer six elemental themed stages, like fire and water, which you can tackle in any order after the first level. Each completed stage rewards you with a new weapon, similar to the system in Mega Man, and you switch between them using the start button. You can extend your life bar by collecting gourds and find magic potions to refill your health when it gets low. The game moves at a steady pace, though some enemy patterns require careful timing to overcome. Playing it feels like a methodical hunt through distinct, challenging territories.
