About Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Who Framed Roger Rabbit on the NES came out in 1989, developed by Rare and published by LJN. It was one of many movie tie-ins on the platform, a side-scrolling adventure that tried to capture the film's mix of live-action and cartoon chaos.
You play as detective Eddie Valiant, with Roger Rabbit following you through a large, interconnected map of Los Angeles and Toontown. Your main goal is to clear Roger's name by finding evidence and Marvin Acme's will, which involves exploring buildings and caves screen by screen. You talk to characters, search drawers and chests for items, and avoid or fight enemies like the Toon Patrol and Judge Doom's weasels. A key mechanic is protecting Roger from eagles that try to snatch him; if they succeed, you must answer riddles to escape. The game is notoriously difficult, with instant death pits and limited continues, but finding new weapons and using Benny the Cab for fast travel offers some relief. Playing it feels like a constant scramble to manage your items and keep Roger safe while navigating its punishing world.
