War Gods on N64 is one of those mid-tier fighters that somehow sticks with you—it’s janky in places, but there’s something weirdly fun about beating up your friends as a bunch of over-the-top mythological gods. The roster’s got everything from a lightning-wielding thunder deity to a creepy, clawed underworld monster, and each one feels just different enough to mess around with.
The 3D arenas are clunky by today’s standards, but back then, spinning around the battlefield felt kinda fresh. Special moves are satisfying to pull off once you get the timing down, though good luck landing some of the flashier combos without practice. It’s not as polished as, say, Tekken or Soulcalibur, but if you’re into obscure fighting games with personality, this one’s got a weird charm.
Just don’t expect a balanced competitive experience—half the fun is laughing at how ridiculous some of the attacks look.
