Wally Bear And The No! Gang Game
📅 1992 ✍️ American Video Entertainment

Wally Bear and the NO! Gang is one of those weird NES games that tried to teach kids about saying no to drugs while also being kind of trippy by accident. You play as Wally, this bear who runs around jumping on platforms and avoiding... well, bad influences, I guess? The whole thing feels like an after-school special mixed with a mediocre platformer—enemies throw cigarettes at you, and some levels have these bizarre, almost psychedelic backgrounds that don’t exactly scream "educational."
It plays like a typical NES game—one hit and you lose a life, which makes some sections frustratingly hard for what’s supposed to be a kids’ game. The animal characters are cute in that 80s cartoon way, but the anti-drug message is about as subtle as a brick to the face. Still, there’s something oddly charming about how earnestly weird it is. If you’re into obscure retro games with questionable design choices, this one’s a trip—literally and figuratively.
