About Wai Wai World (japan)
Wai Wai World came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1988, developed and published by Konami. It was a time when developers were experimenting with crossover games, and this one pulled characters from several of their popular series into a single adventure.
You control a small robot, and your main goal is to rescue six Konami heroes who are trapped inside a monster-making computer. The game is structured screen by screen; you move through side-scrolling platforming areas and overhead map sections. A key mechanic is switching between the different characters you free, like Goemon from *Mystical Ninja* or Simon Belmont from *Castlevania*, each with their own unique attack, such as a sword or a whip. You need their specific abilities to access new areas, which involves a lot of backtracking through the interconnected world. The pacing is methodical, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, demanding precise jumps and careful enemy management. Playing it feels like navigating a dense, sometimes frustrating, but consistently inventive toy box of 8-bit action.
