WCW Backstage Assault is one of those weird wrestling games where they ditched the ring entirely—no ropes, no turnbuckles, just pure backstage chaos. You’re fighting in parking lots, locker rooms, and random hallways, grabbing whatever’s lying around (chairs, pipes, even fire extinguishers) to smash over your opponent’s head.
It’s janky, sure—this was late-era N64 wrestling, after all—but there’s something oddly fun about how over-the-top it is. Matches feel like a messy bar brawl, and the environments are so cramped you’ll constantly trip over scenery or get suplexed onto a stack of crates. Not exactly a technical masterpiece, but if you ever wanted to throw someone into a dumpster behind the arena, this is your game.
