Volley Ball came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987, developed by Technos Japan. It was one of the many sports titles that tried to capture a simple arcade feel on the home console, sitting alongside other early NES games that focused on straightforward, competitive action.

You control a team of two players on a side scrolling court, moving them up and down the screen to hit the ball back and forth. The main goal is to score points by making the ball land on your opponent's side of the net. The game has a few key mechanics: you can choose between a standard set or a more powerful spike, and you need to position your players to receive the serve and set up your own attacks. The pacing is fast, and the computer opponent can be surprisingly difficult, often returning shots that seem impossible to reach. It feels like a frantic back and forth where a single mistimed jump can cost you the point.
