Virtual Wars on the Game Boy is one of those weird little strategy gems that flew under the radar back in the day. You're basically moving tiny pixel units across a grid map, trying to outmaneuver the AI—or a friend if you had the link cable. The sprites are super basic (we're talking early GB chunky pixels), but there's something satisfying about flanking your opponent's tanks with infantry.

First few minutes? You'll fumble through menus in Japanese unless you're lucky enough to find a translation guide. The music's got that classic tinny Game Boy vibe, all bleeps and bloops that somehow make capturing a base feel epic. It's not Fire Emblem, but for a portable war game in 1991, it's surprisingly deep once you get past the language barrier.

Still holds up if you're into retro strategy with a side of nostalgia.
