Vigilante 8 on N64 is basically car combat with a sweet '70s vibe—think muscle cars, desert highways, and way too many rocket launchers. You pick a driver (each with their own ride and backstory), then wreck everyone else in chaotic arena battles. The maps are surprisingly varied—one minute you're dodging oil tanker explosions in a junkyard, the next you're skidding around a ski resort while avalanches bury half the track.
What I love is how the weapons feel weighty—hitting a homing missile just right sends cars flipping end over end, and the machine guns actually chew up the terrain. The single-player campaign's got this goofy conspiracy plot, but the real fun is couch multiplayer. Four players, unlimited chaos, and that one friend who always picks the school bus with flamethrowers. Good times.
It's like Twisted Metal's funkier cousin, but with way better drifting physics.
