Versus Hero came out for the Game Boy in 1990, a time when portable adventures were mostly simple affairs. You control a lone hero exploring a large map screen by screen. Your main goal is to find and assemble the scattered pieces of the Triforce, which means delving into dungeons and fighting monsters. Combat is straightforward; you use a sword for close encounters and a bow for hitting enemies from a distance. The game moves at a deliberate pace, and the difficulty comes from navigating the maze-like layouts and managing your resources.
