About Venice Beach Volleyball (unl)
Venice Beach Volleyball was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System, though it never received a formal North American or European launch. It was developed by Rastersoft and published by American Softworks. This places it among the later, often more experimental titles for the NES, a time when developers were still finding new ways to use the hardware.
You control one of four characters, each paired with a computer controlled partner, on a single screen volleyball court. The main objective is to win matches by scoring points against the opposing team. Your primary actions are moving your player around the court, timing jumps to spike the ball over the net, and positioning yourself to bump or set it for your teammate. The game features a power meter for executing stronger spikes, and you can perform a special super spike when the meter is full. Matches are fast paced, and the computer opponents provide a decent challenge, especially as you progress. It feels like a straightforward arcade sports game that relies heavily on your timing and positioning.
