V-Rally 99 is one of those N64 racers that actually makes you feel like you're wrestling with the car instead of just steering it. The physics are weighty—hit a bump too fast and you'll go flying off some cliff in Corsica, no questions asked. Tracks range from tight forest trails to wide-open desert stretches, and each one punishes you differently if you don't adjust your driving.
At first, the handling feels a little stiff, but once you get used to throwing the car into slides around hairpins, it clicks. There's a decent selection of rally beasts, though I always ended up favoring the Subaru for that sweet AWD grip. Just don't expect arcade-style speed—this is more about nailing the perfect line than boosting past everyone.
If you're into rally games that actually make you work for it, this one's a solid pick for the N64 library.
