Ultraman Chou Toushi Gekiden on Game Boy is exactly what you'd expect from a 90s licensed game—simple, kinda janky, but weirdly charming. You punch monsters, shoot beams, and occasionally fumble with stiff controls when switching between Ultraman forms. The sprites are tiny but surprisingly detailed for a Game Boy title, and the music has that classic tinny energy.
It’s not deep—you basically just walk right and fight whatever shows up—but there’s something satisfying about landing a perfectly timed Specium Ray. Some of the later stages get brutal with enemy spam, so don’t expect a cakewalk. Definitely more fun if you’re already into Ultraman, but even if you’re not, it’s a solid time-killer for retro fans. Just don’t go in expecting a hidden masterpiece.
