About Twin (japan)
I first found Twin on the original Game Boy, a Japan only release from 1991. It was published by Irem, the same company behind titles like R-Type. This was during the early 90s when the handheld was full of these compact, often challenging action games, and Twin fit right in.
You control a small character navigating a series of single screen rooms. Your main goal is to find a key in each level to unlock the exit door. The signature mechanics involve pushing blocks to create pathways or trigger switches, and you must also avoid or defeat enemies that roam the stages. The pacing is deliberate, more of a puzzle than a frantic dash, and the difficulty comes from figuring out the block pushing sequences under pressure. It feels like a quiet, methodical test of your planning and patience.
