Okay, so Tsumi to Batsu is one of those N64 Japan-only gems that flew under the radar. It’s got this weird cyberpunk-meets-religious-apocalypse vibe where you play as this dude with a gun-arm (yes, really) blasting through trippy, futuristic levels. The controls take a minute to get used to—you’ll be fumbling with the N64 pad at first—but once it clicks, the movement feels surprisingly slick for an early 3D game.
First level drops you straight into a neon-lit city under siege, dodging drones and hopping between platforms that crumble under your feet. The soundtrack’s all eerie synths and chanting, which somehow works? It’s janky in that late-’90s way, but there’s something oddly satisfying about the gunplay, especially when you start unlocking weirder abilities later. Just don’t expect the story to make much sense unless your Japanese is solid.
If you’re into obscure action games with a side of existential dread, this one’s a trip worth taking.
