Tsume Shougi - Hyakuban Shoubu is one of those brutally sharp Game Boy shogi puzzle games that'll either make you feel like a genius or leave you staring at the screen for way too long. It's all about solving checkmate scenarios—100 of them, hence the "Hyakuban" in the title—and some of these will absolutely wreck you if you're not careful.
First few puzzles ease you in, but don't get comfy. By puzzle 10, you're already second-guessing every move, trying to remember if the gold general can retreat diagonally (it can't, by the way—learned that the hard way). The tiny sprites make it a little tough to track pieces at first, but you get used to it. If you're into shogi or just love a good brain-melter, this one's a solid pick. Just don't blame me when you lose track of time.
