About True Lies (usa, Europe)
I picked up True Lies for the Game Boy back in 1994, a time when licensed games were everywhere. It was developed by Beam Software, and it tried to capture the spirit of the movie on the small screen. You control Harry Tasker, an undercover agent, through a series of side-scrolling levels.
Your main goal is to stop a terrorist group by fighting through waves of enemies and defusing bombs. You use a standard pistol with limited ammo, but you can pick up better weapons like a machine gun or a rocket launcher from defeated foes. The levels are linear, moving from left to right, and you often have to find keycards to open doors. The pacing is fast, and the game can be quite difficult, with enemies swarming you from both sides. It feels like a straightforward, challenging run-and-gun experience from that era.
