Trip World is this weird little Game Boy gem that feels like Kirby if Kirby took a few mushrooms first. You play as this round, pastel-colored creature who can puff up like a balloon to float around—except instead of sucking up enemies, you just sort of... vibe through these dreamy, pastel landscapes. The music’s got this hypnotic, almost lullaby quality to it, and the whole thing moves slower than you’d expect, like you’re wading through syrup in the best way possible.
At first, I thought it was just another cutesy platformer, but there’s something oddly melancholic about it—like you’re exploring the last happy dream before the world ends. The controls are simple (jump, float, repeat), but the levels have these little secrets tucked away if you poke around. It’s short, maybe too short, but I keep coming back just to soak in the atmosphere. Definitely one of those games that sticks with you.
