Man, Track & Field On GB takes me back—those frantic button-mashing sessions where your thumb would ache after five minutes. You start with the 100m dash, hammering the A button like your life depends on it, and somehow your little pixelated runner still stumbles if you don’t time the jumps right. The long jump’s worse—you’ve got to nail the speed and the angle, or you’re eating sand.
It’s got that classic Game Boy charm, all beeps and blurry sprites, but there’s something weirdly satisfying about finally hitting a personal best after a dozen tries. The javelin throw’s my favorite, though. You’d think it’s just about power, but nope—release too late, and it’s a faceplant. Classic Konami jank.
If you’ve got a buddy around, the two-player mode turns into a button-slapping war. Just don’t blame me when someone yells “cheater” after losing by 0.1 seconds. This one’s pure, dumb nostalgia, but in the best way possible.
