Okay, so Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue on N64 is basically a love letter to the movie, but with way more jumping on toy boxes and collecting Pizza Planet tokens than you’d expect. You play as Buzz, running through Andy’s house, Al’s Toy Barn, and even some wild movie set levels—all while avoiding toy-destroying hazards like falling screws or that creepy vent-cleaning robot.
The controls feel a little stiff at first (it is an N64 platformer), but once you get used to the double jumps and laser blasting, it’s weirdly satisfying. Some levels drag a bit—looking at you, airport baggage conveyor belt—but the soundtrack slaps, and the toy-themed worlds are packed with little details. Also, good luck not getting the Zurg boss fight music stuck in your head.
Honestly, it’s not the deepest game, but if you grew up with Toy Story, running around as Buzz smacking mini-robots with your karate chop never gets old.
