Alright, so Town & Country Surf Designs - Wood & Water Rage is one of those NES games that looks way cooler than it probably should. You’ve got three events—skateboarding, surfing, and kayaking—and each one feels like its own little arcade challenge. The skateboarding part is basically a side-scroller where you’re dodging traffic and pulling off flips, while the surfing has you weaving between buoys and catching air off waves. Kayaking? That’s just pure chaos, trying not to flip over in rapids.
The controls are simple, but nailing the timing for tricks takes practice. At first, I kept wiping out on the simplest jumps, but once you get the rhythm, it’s weirdly satisfying. The graphics are bright and cartoony, and the whole thing has that late '80s extreme sports vibe—like someone mashed up a surf shop poster with an NES cartridge.
Honestly, it’s not the deepest game, but it’s fun in short bursts. If you’re into weird retro sports games, this one’s worth a spin.
