I first came across Tottemo! Luckyman on the Game Boy back in 1997. It was developed and published by Electronics Application in Japan, so it never got an official English release. This was during that era when the Game Boy was flooded with titles based on anime and manga, and this one is a direct adaptation of the superhero parody series. It fits right in with the portable system's library of action platformers from that time.

You control Luckyman, a clumsy but super-powered hero, through side-scrolling stages. Your main goal is to fight through each level, defeating enemies and confronting a boss at the end. The gameplay involves a lot of jumping between platforms and using your basic punch attack. A signature mechanic is the roulette wheel that appears; landing on different segments can grant you temporary power-ups like a screen-clearing bomb or enhanced attacks. Another key element is managing your luck meter, which affects these roulette outcomes. The pacing is fairly quick, and the difficulty can be unpredictable, sometimes feeling more reliant on the random power-ups than pure skill. It feels like a chaotic scramble where a single spin can completely turn the tide of a stage.
