Ever played one of those weird, charming Game Boy games that makes no sense at first but somehow hooks you? Totsugeki! Ponkotsu Tank is exactly that—a little Japanese gem where you control a clunky tank that feels like it’s held together with duct tape. The controls are intentionally awkward (hence the "Ponkotsu" or "junk" in the title), but that’s the whole point.
You’re thrown into small, maze-like battlefields where you bump into enemies, ricochet off walls, and occasionally pick up power-ups that barely help. The music’s got that classic Game Boy bleep-bloop energy, and the sprites are tiny but full of personality. It’s the kind of game where you’ll fail a bunch at first, then suddenly get into a weird rhythm of bouncing around like a drunk bumper car.
Definitely not for everyone, but if you like quirky, punishingly silly retro games, this one’s a blast. Just don’t expect your tank to handle like anything other than a shopping cart with a cannon.
