Total Carnage on Game Boy is pure, unfiltered chaos—in the best way possible. You start off with this dinky little machine gun, and within seconds, you're swarmed by enemies from every direction. The screen's tiny, but somehow they cram in so much action it feels like the cartridge might explode.
What I love is how it doesn't hold your hand. You die fast if you just stand there, so you're constantly dodging, weaving, and praying you grab a power-up before some grenade-toting maniac flattens you. The flamethrower? Absolute game-changer—until you run out of ammo and panic.
Boss fights are ridiculous in that classic arcade way—huge, screen-filling monstrosities that take half your health bar in one hit. It's the kind of game where you'll yell at the screen, then immediately hit "continue" because you know you can do better. If you miss that era of games where difficulty wasn't optional, this one's got your back.
