Toobin' on NES is one of those weird, chaotic arcade ports that somehow works. You’re basically just a dude in an inner tube, barreling down rivers while chucking soda cans at crocodiles and fishermen—because, sure, why not? The controls take a second to click—you’re fighting the current as much as the obstacles—but once you get the hang of drifting around logs and under bonus gates, it’s oddly satisfying. Just don’t expect deep strategy; it’s pure, dumb fun with a side of 8-bit frustration when you wipe out on the same rock three times in a row.
Oh, and Biff’s mullet in the cover art? Iconic. The game itself? A weird little time capsule.
