Tombs & Treasures is this weird little NES gem where you explore Mayan ruins with three characters—each with their own quirks. At first, it feels like a basic point-and-click adventure: you shuffle between temples, poking at walls and trying to figure out which hieroglyph does what. The boy handles most of the grunt work, the girl plays weird flute tunes to unlock stuff, and Jose? Yeah, he’s just here to yeet boulders out of the way.

Combat’s clunky but kinda charming—demons pop up in the first room of most ruins, and you either punch them bare-handed or fumble through menus to equip your sword (why isn’t it automatic?). No healing, no strategy, just hammering the Fight command until something dies. But hey, at least you can nope out and come back later fully healed.

Half the time you’re staring at pixelated murals trying to decode what “Wash” even means in this context. It’s janky, but there’s something satisfying about finally getting a door to open after 20 minutes of pushing random rocks.
