Tokio Senki - Eiyuu Retsuden (japan) Game

Tokio Senki - Eiyuu Retsuden is one of those obscure Game Boy gems that never left Japan, which is a shame because it’s a solid little tactical RPG. You’ve got this mix of turn-based grid battles and light political drama—think Fire Emblem but with a slightly clunkier interface and way more kanji if you don’t read Japanese. The sprites are tiny but charming, and there’s something oddly satisfying about maneuvering your units through cramped urban maps.
First few minutes? You’re thrown into picking a faction (I went with the rebels because underdogs are more fun), then immediately into a skirmish where positioning matters way more than brute force. The music’s got that classic Game Boy chiptune grit, and yeah, the dialogue’s all in Japanese, but the menus are just manageable enough if you’ve played similar games before. Not the deepest strategy title out there, but it’s got personality.
If you’re into retro tactical RPGs and don’t mind some guesswork, this one’s worth digging up.
