About Times Of Lore
Times of Lore came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1989, developed by Origin Systems. It was part of that wave of action-adventure games on the NES that tried to blend exploration with a bigger story. You could see the influence of earlier titles, but it had its own approach to the genre on the console.
You control a hero, moving screen by screen across an overworld and into dungeons. Your main goal is to find the scattered pieces of the Triforce-like amulet to restore order to the kingdom. You use a sword for close combat and can switch to a bow for ranged attacks against the various monsters you encounter. The game has a deliberate pace, and the combat can be difficult, requiring careful positioning to avoid taking damage. Exploring the world and slowly piecing together the quest gives the whole experience a methodical, almost lonely feeling.
