About Tiger-heli
Tiger-Heli came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985, developed by Toaplan. It was part of that early wave of NES shooters, a time when the screen was often filled with simple, blocky enemies and the challenge was straightforward but relentless. You didn't get elaborate stories; you got a helicopter and a mission.
You pilot a military helicopter through six stages, moving relentlessly to the right. Your main goal is to destroy every enemy vehicle and installation you encounter before they fill the screen with bullets. Your primary weapon is a forward-firing machine gun, but you can also pick up power-ups that deploy two satellite pods; these pods float alongside your helicopter and fire automatically at nearby ground targets, which is crucial for clearing out tanks and bunkers. The game progresses screen by screen, with each section locking you in until you eliminate all the enemies present. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty ramps up quickly, demanding sharp reflexes to navigate the increasing enemy fire. It feels like a constant, tense push forward where a single mistake can send you back to the beginning of the stage.
