Thunderbirds on the Game Boy is one of those weird little Japan-only releases that somehow made it over here. It's based on the classic puppet show, but don't expect anything fancy—this is pure early 90s handheld action. You control the different Thunderbird machines through side-scrolling missions, and yeah, the sprites are tiny and kinda blocky, but there's charm in that.
First thing you'll notice is how slow the ships move at first—until you realize you can hold down the button to speed up (took me way too long to figure that out). The music's actually pretty catchy for Game Boy standards, with that classic bleep-bloop energy. Some stages feel a bit samey after a while, but there's something satisfying about rescuing people with those clunky controls.
Definitely more of a curiosity than a must-play, but if you're into obscure retro titles, it's got that weird early portable game vibe down perfectly.
