About The Ren & Stimpy Show : Veediot
I picked up The Ren & Stimpy Show: Veediot for my Game Boy back in 1993. It was published by THQ, one of those many licensed games that tried to capture a cartoon's chaos on the small screen. For a portable title from that era, it fit right in with other side-scrolling platformers, though it definitely stood out because of its source material.
You control Stimpy, and your goal is to rescue Ren from a television network. The game is a series of side-scrolling levels where you walk, jump on platforms, and avoid enemies. A couple of specific things you do are collect rubber nipples from baby bottles for points and use a special 'Cat-Call' ability to briefly stun foes. The pacing is slow, and the controls feel a bit heavy, which makes some of the precise jumps more difficult than they should be. Playing it feels like wrestling with the hardware limitations of the time while trying to enjoy the show's weird humor.
