Okay, so The Last Starfighter on NES is... not what you’d expect. It’s basically a reskin of Uridium from the Commodore 64, with a few movie-themed tweaks—title screen, music, and character names on the high score list. That’s it. No epic space battles or movie tie-ins, just a stripped-down shooter where you’re dodging obstacles that look suspiciously like floating Tetris blocks.
The controls are stiff, and judging depth in that flat, top-down view? Good luck. Half the time you’ll clip some random barrier because everything looks like it’s on the same plane. The C64 original had charm, but this port feels like someone forgot to add the fun. If you’re a die-hard fan of the movie, maybe check it out for curiosity’s sake—just don’t expect to feel like a starfighter.
