Okay, so The Flintstones: King Rock Treasure Island is one of those classic Game Boy platformers that feels like it was made just for fans of the cartoon. You start off as Fred (of course), swinging your club at weird little cavemen enemies and jumping between floating rocks—typical Flintstones logic. The sprites are tiny but surprisingly detailed, and yeah, Wilma and Barney show up too, which is a nice touch.
It’s not just mindless running around, though. There’s some actual puzzle-solving—like pushing boulders onto switches or figuring out which path doesn’t lead to a dinosaur’s mouth. The treasure hunt gimmick keeps things interesting, but honestly, half the fun is just seeing how they translated Bedrock into 8-bit. Some of the platforming’s a little janky (thanks, Game Boy physics), but if you grew up with the show, it’s weirdly charming. Just don’t expect it to be easy—those pterodactyls don’t mess around.
