So The Battle of Olympus is this old-school NES action-adventure game where you play as Orpheus—yeah, the guy from Greek myth—trying to rescue his girlfriend Helene from the underworld. You start off talking to Zeus, who basically tells the other gods to hook you up with some gear. And by gear, I mean stuff like Apollo’s harp (which calls Pegasus for fast travel, pretty handy) or Hermes’ sandals (because who doesn’t want to run faster?).

It’s got that classic side-scrolling combat where you’re whacking cyclopes, minotaurs, and other mythological nightmares with whatever weapon you’ve scrounged up. The underworld levels are brutal—dark, maze-like, packed with enemies—but stumbling across a new god-given item always feels like a win. Just don’t expect the controls to be super forgiving; it’s an NES game, after all. By the time you’re squaring off against Hades himself, you’ll either love the grind or rage-quit. No in-between.

If you’re into Greek mythology and don’t mind some jank, it’s a weird little time capsule.
