Man, TMNT IV: Turtles in Time on SNES is peak '90s beat-'em-up nostalgia. You pick your favorite turtle—Leo’s balanced, Mikey’s quick, Donnie’s got reach, Raph hits hard—and immediately dive into smashing Foot Clan goons across time. One minute you’re tossing enemies into the screen in a neon-lit alley, the next you’re fighting pirate Rocksteady on a burning ship. The pixel art still holds up, especially when Shredder’s weird time-warping shenanigans send you to the Wild West or a dinosaur-infested prehistoric jungle.
What makes it shine is how smooth it feels—combos flow naturally, and the two-player co-op turns chaotic fast (in the best way). Just try not to hog all the pizza power-ups. The soundtrack’s full of those crunchy SNES basslines too, especially the sewer level theme. It’s short but so replayable, especially if you crank up the difficulty. Still one of the best TMNT games ever made.
