Man, Tecmo Super Bowl on the NES is still one of the best football games ever made. It’s got all 28 NFL teams from back in '91, so you’ve got legends like Joe Montana and Lawrence Taylor tearing it up in pixel form. The gameplay’s simple but surprisingly deep—once you figure out the playbook, you’ll be pulling off crazy runs and last-second passes like a pro.
What really makes it stand out is how fast it plays. No endless menus or complicated controls—just pick a play, snap the ball, and go. The AI isn’t pushover either; those defensive backs will swat your passes if you’re not careful. And don’t even get me started on Bo Jackson—dude’s basically unstoppable if you know how to use him.
Even after all these years, it’s still a blast to fire up and play a quick game. Just be ready for some old-school frustration when the computer pulls off some nonsense interception.
