Tamura Koushou Mahjong Seminar (japan) Game

Ever wanted to learn Japanese mahjong but found the rules overwhelming? Tamura Koushou Mahjong Seminar is basically your patient, slightly stern sensei in cartridge form. The tutorial starts simple—just matching tiles at first—but before long you're knee-deep in complex hands and scoring systems.
What's cool is how it actually explains things instead of throwing you into deep water. The AI opponents start off forgiving, then gradually ramp up as you improve. I still remember the first time I accidentally called "riichi" without enough points—the game doesn't let you forget mistakes like that.
Fair warning though, the interface shows its age with tiny menus and no mouse support. But if you stick with it, you'll come out actually understanding why Japanese mahjong players get so intense about their tile discards. Just don't blame me when you start seeing tile patterns in your sleep.
