About Tale Spin
I remember picking up Tale Spin for the Game Boy back in 1992. It was a Capcom release, one of many licensed games that tried to capture the feel of a cartoon on the small screen. At the time, it was just another title in the pile, a side-scrolling adventure that promised to let you fly with Baloo.
You control Baloo the bear piloting his plane, the Sea Duck. The main goal is to fly through levels, shooting down enemy planes and air pirates while collecting cargo packages. The gameplay alternates between horizontal shooting stages and slower, platforming sections where you navigate on foot. You have to manage your fuel, which adds a constant pressure to find refills. The difficulty can be sharp, with enemy patterns that require quick reflexes to avoid. It feels like a constant scramble to stay airborne and complete your delivery runs.
