About Takeda Shingen (japan)
Taito Corporation released Takeda Shingen for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1988. This was a time when Japanese developers were experimenting with many different genres on the console. The game is a turn based strategy title set in feudal Japan, focusing on the historical figure of the same name. It was part of a wave of more complex, domestically focused games that never made it to Western markets.
You control the Takeda clan, managing your provinces and armies on a strategic map. Your main objective is to conquer rival daimyo and unify Japan under your banner. The gameplay involves moving your units across a grid like map, engaging in tactical battles when you encounter enemy forces. You must also manage your resources, building up your economy to fund your military campaigns. The pacing is deliberate, requiring careful planning rather than quick actions, and the difficulty can be steep as your opponents are numerous and aggressive. Playing it feels like a slow, methodical chess match played out across the provinces of 16th century Japan.
