Oh man, Takahashi Meijin No Boukenjima II—this one takes me back. It's the sequel to the Famicom classic, but on Game Boy, so everything's tinier and somehow even more charming. You're basically guiding this little dude through a maze of islands, solving puzzles and dodging enemies that pop out when you least expect it.
The first thing you'll notice is how simple it looks, but don't let that fool you. Some of these puzzles get sneaky, especially when you're trying to figure out which blocks to push or when to time your jumps. And the music? Pure 8-bit earworm material.
It's one of those games where you'll die a bunch at first, then suddenly everything clicks. I remember getting stuck on the third island for way too long before realizing I had to lure an enemy into breaking a wall for me. Classic adventure game logic.
If you're into retro puzzle-platformers, this one's a solid pick—just don't expect it to go easy on you.
