About Takahashi Meijin No Boukenjima Ii (japan)
I first played Takahashi Meijin no Boukenjima II on the Game Boy back in 1991. It was a Hudson Soft release, one of many action-adventure titles that defined the handheld's early library. The game felt right at home on that small, green-tinted screen, a compact world you could carry in your pocket.
You control a young hero exploring a large island, moving screen by screen. Your main goal is to rescue a princess by navigating through dungeons and collecting four pieces of a sacred statue. You use a sword for close combat and a bow for hitting distant enemies and switches. The pacing is deliberate; you often backtrack to use newly found keys on previously locked doors. Some sections are quite difficult, demanding precise jumps and careful enemy management. Playing it feels like slowly unraveling a dense, interconnected map where every new path matters.
